How To Hypnotise Someone
July 10th, 2008 by Jarrod
Learning how to hypnotise someone does not have to be difficult. Usually, a person new to hypnosis will study a wide variety of hypnosis courses, books, scripts, and inductions at first. The result is they almost always end up feeling a little confused, wondering where they should actually begin. If you are in the same situation right now, listen closely …
There are several thousand different ways to hypnotise a person. But the single most important task that any would-be hypnotist must perform is to effectively bypass a person’s critical factor, the conscious mind. No matter which method of induction you opt to use, you must quiet that person’s critical thought before you can get them to follow your commands. Plain and simple.
There are many techniques you can use to accomplish this. With instant inductions, you simply interrupt a person’s trained instinct. The “Handshake Induction” is a prime example. When a person reaches to shake you extended hand, they are performing a natural, well-known greeting custom without using critical thought. You simply interrupt that pattern by pulling their arm down or hold it in front of them. This momentary pattern interrupt stuns and preoccupies their conscious mind … allowing you split second access to their subconscious mind. Enough time to deliver the command, “sleep”.
You can also bypass the critical factor by using popular relaxation techniques like “The Elfman Technique” or the traditional stand-by, “Progressive Relaxation”. Very simply, you help your subject to relax by having them focus on relaxing individual body parts, leading them slowly and calmly through the process and using a soothing and rhythmic tonality in your voice. As they become more and more relaxed, their critical mind rests and their subconscious mind is open to your suggestions.
Or, if you do not wish to use progressive or instant techniques, you can choose to employ conversational hypnosis techniques. Very simply, you speak with others using confusion tactics and hypnotic word phrasing or storytelling to subdue their critical mind. There is no need for trance induction, as your subject is simply unaware that you are hypnotizing them and implanting hidden commands into their mind.
